Privacy Policy (Software)

Last updated on Jan 5, 2024

This Privacy Policy is adopted to explain information collected from software applications currently developed, maintained and under distribution by Wern, and how this information is used.

Thereafter in this page, “App”/“Application”/“Service” will refer to (mobile, desktop or web) applications and web app services by Wern, “You”/“Your”/“User” refers to the user of the app, and “I”/“me”/“we”/“us” refer to Wern.

These software automatically collect or use certain information as shown below.

Collected Data

For most apps, these might be collected for the purpose of improving the app, either automatically or through user-submissions:

  • Your device type
  • Your device’s operating system
  • Your device’s operating system’s version
  • App usage analytics
  • App crash reports
  • Anonymous information about how you use the app (which section of the app you entered, what elements of the app have you interacted with etc.)

Unless an app is specifically mentioned later to have additional data collection, the list above is exhaustive.

For automatic collection of data, this will occur by using data collected via Apple’s and/or Google’s Analytics. Any collected data cannot be traced to any singular device, except in the situation where a log for diagnostics purposes is attached in a user feedback. We do not collect Advertising Identifiers (such as iOS’s IDFA) in any form nor share that information with third-parties.

If you indicated to allow sharing App Analytics with Apple/Google and App Developers in your system settings, all apps hosted on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store will have data collected, anonymized, then relayed to us via Apple and Google. Otherwise, no information is collected via this channel.

For apps on the store, unless otherwise stated in App Store and Play Store app privacy notices, aside from this system channel, there will be no other sources of automatic data collection.

Third-Party Services

We do not directly sell data with third-parties. However, it is often necessary to connect through third-party services to collect certain data or provide certain services.

For example, data collected as a result of sending e-mails would need to be transmitted through mail servers. These mail servers, such as Gmail by Google, are third-party services.

In addition, some software may use third-party services to provide additional functionality. For example, Personal Diary supports cloud storage like iCloud Drive, which is a third-party service. In these cases, the third-party service’s terms will apply.

Google Analytics

It is important to note that some apps include Google Analytics, which is used to collect anonymous information about how you use the app. This is used to better understand aggregate performance and usage across the userbase, which can help determine which parts of certain software can be improved.

With Google Analytics, in addition to general details listed above, some anonymous information about you may be automatically aggregated by Google. These data points include all above analytics information. In addition, generalised statistics for cohort of users, such as gender, demographics, interests etc.* may be indicated by Google.

* These additional data points by Google Analytics are fully anonymous and grouped such that they cannot be accessed by us on a per-person basis. These are only provided by Google if you have opted-in to data sharing via Google Ad Settings. Read Google’s Privacy Policy for more info.

These apps and services use Google Analytics:

  • Personal Diary
  • Digital Scale+
  • NUS High Helper (discontinued)

Customer Support Activities

The act of sending a customer support request will include personal information such as your name and email, unless you intentionally anonymise it. In addition, your activity (buttons pressed, pages visited, errors encountered) within the app or service may be attached in the form of diagnostic logs via email. If you see no indication of logs attached, then no such information is attached and sent. These diagnostic logs may contain minor amounts of personal information, but you can always omit it from your submissions.

Note that sending a support email with diagnostic logs links your user activity with the email and name you provide, and the data is no longer anonymous. This linkage won’t be shared to third-parties, and will only be used for the purposes of customer support and improvement of apps or services. If you don’t remove these logs, the act of sending the email with attached logs constitutes your consent of this linkage.

You can request us to delete any prior correspondences and resulting data linkage from all known systems via customer support.

Apps with Advertisements

Apps that serves advertisements via Google AdMob may serve personalized ads based on your Google activity, which is up to Google to decide upon which ads to serve. The apps do not allow Google to directly access your data.

Relevant Software

No apps or services currently serve advertisements.

Personal Data Management

Many relevant software applications are designed to store or access personal data in mind. You can be rest assured that:

  • No personal data is sent or transferred outside of the app or service to be sold for marketing, advertising, etc., without your consent.

  • Any analytics or diagnostic information will not contain any personal data directly created or saved by the user.

  • If analytics or diagnostic information contains any other data (such as estimated location), it’ll not contain any information with a high degree of traceable information (e.g. location will be rounded off to ±1° lat/long (~100km) of precision)

  • External 3rd-party services will not be provided direct access to your personal data, with the exception of apps and services using 3rd-party cloud storage solutions for cross-device sync.

  • Apps that have access to your camera, photo library, microphone, location, health data, or other personal data will only use it for clear, user-invoked and visible operations.

  • Apps that use cloud storage to store data will only be used for user data sync across multiple devices via the Internet. Your data in the cloud will not be used for any other purposes. However, note that the cloud storage provider you choose to use may have their own usage terms.
